Citric Acid (Kosher for Passover)

Common Name: Citric Acid

Chemical Name: Citric Acid Anhydrous

Functional uses: Adds sourness to food, with a flavor profile different from fumaric acid and malic acid. It can also be used as an antioxidant and chelating agent.

Citric acid is an acidic food additive found naturally, especially in sour fruits such as lemons and limes. On an industrial scale, it can be produced by fermenting sucrose and dextrose derived from starch-rich agricultural raw materials. It is commonly used to adjust the acidity of foods. Citric acid is a white powder that dissolves readily in water.

Tinnakorn distributes Citric Acid from Gadot Biochemical of Israel, a manufacturer with more than 50 years of experience in citric acid production and international recognition.

The product carries certifications supporting religious requirements:

Kosher for Passover: Produced and certified under strict Jewish religious supervision to meet the specific requirements of Passover.

Halal: Certified according to Islamic requirements, allowing the product to be used in foods and products for Muslim consumers and supporting sales and exports to markets that require Halal standards.

For applications that require controlled or delayed release, microencapsulated citric acid can be used so that the acid reacts at the desired stage. Encapsulation technology helps manage the release profile.

Food, Beverage & Supplement

Citric Acid is a widely used acidulant that creates a citrus-like tartness similar to oranges, lemons, and limes. In the beverage industry, it is commonly used to add tartness and control the acidity and color of fruit beverages. A general ratio of 9 parts Citric Acid to 1 part Malic Acid can boost fruit flavor and create a more balanced taste. In chewing gum, Citric Acid is often used to create an initial sour sensation, while Malic Acid and Fumaric Acid are commonly used to extend the duration of the sour taste.
