Trimagnesium Citrate, or Magnesium Citrate, is a source of magnesium and also functions as a buffering agent. It is a white powder commonly used in pharmaceutical, beverage, and food applications, particularly dietary supplements. Trimagnesium Citrate is generally available in two forms: anhydrous and nonahydrate. The anhydrous form provides better water solubility, a higher magnesium content, and favorable absorption compared with the nonahydrate form.
Magnesium Citrate is gentle on the stomach and can be taken on an empty stomach or with food. It combines well with other minerals and nutrients. Magnesium is important for metabolism, supports energy production, helps relax muscles and reduce fatigue, supports the nervous system and brain, and may also support healthy sleep. It is therefore widely used in foods, beverages, and especially dietary supplements.
