Food, Beverage & Supplement
Widely used in the food industry—both as a food additive and as a direct ingredient—it serves as a flavor carrier and a popular anti-caking agent for dry foods and powdered beverages (e.g., milk powder, powdered fruit juice, instant drink mixes, baking powder, seasoning powders, table salt, and cooking seasonings).
It can also be applied to solid dry foods, such as crackers, to maintain crispness.
A key property of this anti-caking agent is its molecule’s high capacity to absorb or bind with water—capable of absorbing up to twice its own weight.
It absorbs moisture from the atmosphere within the packaging and from the surface of the powder itself, keeping the powder dry, free-flowing, and clump-free.
Additionally, it functions as an antifoaming agent in beverages and as a stabilizer in beer production to enhance cold stability.
