What is SYLOID® XDP?

SYLOID® XDP is a unique, highly porous, mesoporous silica gel with a large internal surface area, offering superior absorption capabilities compared to conventional silicas. It serves as a carrier for liquid pharmaceutical actives—converting them into solid dosage forms—and for oily active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in “Liquisolid Systems.”

SYLOID® XDP is engineered with a combination of internal and external porosity that maximizes surface area, thereby enhancing absorption and uptake. It facilitates the easy penetration of oily APIs, lipids, and liquids into its pores without the need for solvents, surfactants, or drying processes. Thanks to its optimized pore size and structure, SYLOID® XDP delivers 100% efficiency.

It is commonly used for loading oily APIs, making it easier to transform liquids into solids while maintaining good flow properties, which allows for high drug loading in capsules and tablets….and offers excellent drug release properties.

SYLOID® XDP 3050 and 3015 silica pharmaceutical excipients are classified as both food additives and pharmaceutical excipients.
